BIOGRAPHY
 
Joseph F. Cook was born in New York in 1927. In Rye his family lived on Grace Church Street and were members of the Church of the Resurrection. Joseph enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He attended Yale University until being drafted in the U. S. Army Medical Corps during WWII

Joseph F. Cook Published: Wednesday, June 23, 2010 2:10 PM EDT, TOPSHAM � Joseph F. Cook, age 83 of the Highlands, died unexpectedly Saturday, June 19, 2010 at Parkview Adventist Medical Center. He was born in Rye, N.Y. on March 13, 1927 the son of Joseph F. and Theresa S. Lesher Cook. He grew up in Rye where he attended Rye Country Day School and graduated from Taft School in 1945. He attended Yale University until being drafted in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during WWII. He returned to Yale University graduating in the Class of 1950. In 1952 he married Louise S. McLean of Wilkes Barre, PA. Mr. Cook was employed at J.P. Morgan as Vice President of Private Banking in New York City, retiring in 1986. Mr. & Mrs. Cook resided in Darien, CT for many years before moving to Cape Elizabeth in 1986. He was a member and former church trustee for the Noroton Presbyterian Church in Darien, and was also a former Cub Scout Leader. They moved to Brunswick in 1991 and recently to The Highlands in Topsham. He was a member of the First Parish Church in Brunswick where he was a member of the choir, he volunteered at SCORE, (Service Corp of Retired Executives) and at Mid Coast Hospital. He enjoyed history, old movies, socializing with friends, spending time with his family, and walking his beloved Corgi, Holly Besides his wife of 57 years, he is survived by three sons, Joseph F. Cook, III and his wife, Deborah of Dummerston, VT, William M. Cook and his wife, Melissa of Erie, CO, and Benjamin H. Cook of Manchester, VT; two sisters, Edith C. Nelson and her husband, Frank of Granville, OH, and Alice C. Bosworth and her husband, Robert of Denver, CO; four grandchildren, Jason F. Cook of Waltham, MA, Andrew M. Cook and his wife, Elizabeth of Waitsfield, VT, Tyler M. Cook and Jessica E. Cook, both of Erie, CO. A memorial service will be held in late July at First Parish Church, Maine Street, Brunswick with Rev. Mary Baard officiating. Interment will be in First Parish Memorial Garden, Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Parish Church, 9 Cleaveland Street, Brunswick, ME 04011, Coastal Humane Society, 30 Range Rd, Brunswick, ME 04011, or to the Taft School Alumni Fund, 11 Woodbury Road, Watertown, CT 06795.
